Book 10: The Longshoreman of the Apocalypse — Prologue: Drydock

Transcript

Kevyn: Look, I'd love to just sit and talk, but right now I'm trying to restore a dead A.I. from an unwound vanilla helix, and it's not going well.
Kevyn: Since it's the ship's A.I. this ship isn't going anywhere until I'm done. Until the ship goes somewhere, we're not making any money, which means I've got the Captain breathing down my neck.
Kevyn: Since he's too busy to interfere personally, he sent you down here. I guess he thinks that 'roboticist' means 'can bring TAG back from the dead."
Para Ventura: If you try to restore from those strands before replaiting, you'll just strip the core.
