Book 16: Big, Dumb Objects — Part III

Transcript

NARRATOR: Jumpstar Prime...

MURTAUGH: Commodore, this latest dispatch... it looks like you're trying to run a murder investigation.

NARRATOR: Broken Wind...

CDRE TAGON: We've got this, Captain. We don't need to gather evidence for a trial. We found fresh corpses, so we're tracking those responsible in order to stop the killing.

MURTAUGH: Ah. So it's not like a murder investigation.

It's exactly the same as a murder investigation.

CDRE TAGON: This is a battlefield, not a crime scene.

MURTAUGH: See? There's our disconnect. A battlefield is a crime scene.

Nobody on your roster has forensic training. You can take down the bad guys, but only if you know how to find them.

CDRE TAGON: Ebby did pretty well with the autopsies, and Schlock is following a chemical trail.

We'll muscle through this.

MURTAUGH: "Muscle through this..."

*sotto voce* Sanctum ineptum.

MURTAUGH: I'll call you back, Commodore. I need to find you the right set of muscles.

CDRE TAGON: 'Kay.

I need to find my "Old-Earth-Epithets" phrase book, and maybe flip through it.
