Book 16: Big, Dumb Objects — Part IV

Transcript

NARRATOR: Research Pod...

esspee: What are your spiders looking for?

GASCA: Lots of things. Anything, really. They're taking samples.

esspee: Can they look for something specific? For us?

GASCA: Sure, but if you dropped your favorite spanner in that ocean, it is gone.

esspee: I misspoke. Not "look for." "Look at."

Our mappers found an anomaly, but it is too deep for swimming.

GASCA: Your mappers...

You have maps?

esspee: Of course.

GASCA: Well, then... in exchange for some maps, I will have the spiders check out your anomaly.

esspee: Easy and done!

GASCA: Two-meter resolution down to a thousand klicks... Very nice.

I should have asked about maps much earlier.

esspee: The anomaly is on tile sixteen.

Yup. Right there. We call it "The Sunken Orb" because somebody is lazy at naming things.

esspee: That face you are making is the face that you make just before you get loud.

GASCA: *shouting* DANITA! THE BROWNIES FOUND OUR NEEDLE IN THEIR HAYSTACK!

esspee: And rude. Loud and rude.
