Shop at Amazon, Howard Gets a Slice of Pie

Posted November 27th, 2006 by Howard Tayler

Just a quick reminder this holiday season — anything you buy at Amazon.com on a visit that began with you following a link from Schlock Mercenary (like this one!) will be credited by Amazon as a “referral” from yours truly.

A referral, mind you, for which they will pay me a percentage (between 4% and 7% of the purchase price). Your price stays the same — Amazon takes a small hit in their profit margin, and I get a slice of their pie.

Mmmm… pie. Happy holiday shopping!

Oh, bugger. I literally surfed over to Schlock immediately after posting an order at Amazon and saw this on the blog. Sorry for forgetting about the Amazon link.

Oh well, it was just a couple of hair products… I can still use the link that pays you money when I do my major holiday shopping. :)

If you’ve still got major shopping to do, that’s perfect. Thanks for thinking of us!

Funny that you should post this today. I was just thinking, this very morning, that I should use the Schlock link when I order my son’s toys like I did last year.

I realize that buying my son’s Thomas trains from Amazon doesn’t save me much money… but Toys R Us, at this time of year, never seems to have the trains he lacks. So the surety of getting what I want is worth the shipping cost. Oh, and the convenience is nothing to sneeze at.

Too bad you don’t have a kickback from thinkgeek.com; the teenagers’ gifts will mostly be coming from there.

The relatives have left after the holiday, and I finally got to read my book.

And three days of smart-alec nanites to boot? How could life be sweeter? Oh look… leftover pie…

Do you get a slice of the pie if I log into Amazon.COM and thence to Amazon.co.uk? You will have guessed that I’m in the UK!

Hesperus: sorry, I’m afraid I don’t. Amazon.co.uk runs separate affiliate programs. Go figure.

Hey Howard, any chance that you can hook up with Amazon.ca, it makes it a lot easier for the Canucks up in the Great White North. (It really is white up here, about mid calf!)
