Vicarious SDCC Update via the cartoonist’s wife
Posted July 26th, 2008 by Sandra TaylerHoward wanted me to post a message to let you all know that he’s sorry for not blogging more during the convention. He’s working on the convention floor for 8-10 hours per day. That is followed by dinner meetings with other creative professionals to talk shop and share tips for keeping the business rolling. By the time he hits his hotel room he’s too exhausted to think, let alone compose an amusing blog entry. In the mornings he has to hit the ground running and has no time for blogging. I only get to hear from him by phone when he is in transit walking from the hotel to the convention center. All is going well. The sales have been brisk enough that we’ll make a small profit on the convention. Howard will be back soon.

We’ll forgive him…
This time… :)

Ask him whether any birds have visited his booth. The tor.com folks are busily putting up bits and pieces from SDCC, and today’s said that their booth had an overnight visit.

YEA Profit!
Despite what those more “artistic” will tell you, that is what it’s all about.
Anyone who says it’s all about the art is not a smart enough businessman to know the difference. Just ask Dan Wells.
Way to go Dan, you thumb your nose at your muse and get that book published!

If it weren’t about the profit, we’d have far less art to enjoy. Or am I misinterpreting the tone of your post, and you’re not being sarcastic?
Thanks for the update, Sandra. Tell Howard we don’t mind the lack of blogs, and he shouldn’t beat himself up about it. :)

not to worry howard, as some one said above profit is the name of the game. if you can’t make a living we get no comics to entertain us and you go on to do something else that does support your wife and family. take care of business first, and make time to eat and sleep too, blog, if at all, after everything else is covered, including chow and sack time.

[SARCASM]
No, no, no — the Artists exists to be at the beck and call of his fans.
He must provide us with live streaming videos of his every movement
(yes, that is a bathroom-related double-entendre :) ). He exists to
serve *us*! Food? Sleep? Bah, I say — *BAH*!

maybe the forums can be fixed in the meantime. i cant register to two of them cuz they keep telling me i have invalid chars in my username and the password policies are just retarded (mixed case, one number/special char wtf?? is this a high security bank or a crappy forum ?).
maybe have ONE forum on wordpress like this one which is the only one i can use and a single sign on so we can use this account to post topics ?

Have I ever been anything BUT sarcastic (other than when praising Howard)? ;P

Zurk: The Nightstar Schlock forum and the Blank Label Schlock forum are both spaces donated to Schlock fans by other people. We do not have administrative control over those forums, just moderator control over the Schlock section. I’m afraid you’ll have to check with the individual forums to have your registration difficulties addressed. Sorry I can’t be more help.

Zurk – one number and a special character isn’t much. That’s like typing ‘Trucker$’
I don’t understand why you call the forums ‘broken’? How is it that they don’t work?
