Ordering for Sketched Editions is now closed

By Sandra Tayler

It is past 8 am mountain time and we’ve topped over the 1000 sketched books mark. I need to do some math to figure out exactly how many we’ve got spoken for, but the number will be right around 1000 books. You Schlockers really know how to hit a target.

Regular editions of The Teraport Wars are still available. All books mailed directly from us are signed. And don’t forget all that other cool stuff in our store. The popular warning-sign magnets mousemats, Tagon logo pins, Rule 37 shirts, and Rule 1 shirts. If there are impressionable children in your life, grab a copy of Hold On To Your Horses, the children’s book by Sandra Tayler and illustrated by Angela Call.

Yay, 2 books (1 signed, one sketched) and magnets.
    Gleeeee. Always fun shopping here.

Now let the anticipation begin :-)

  2. swj719 Says:

fatum, now you need to make plans to attend the shipping/book release party…

Come Heck or High Water, I’m gonna be there (I’m currently 2 of 3 for these shindigs) cause they are just plain fun…

Oh, and Sandra? Hold of on the shipping party thursday. I will be annoyed if it is over before I arrive. :)

  3. juenger1701 Says:

someone remember to warn USPS that their entire Utah district is going to get blitzed again

  4. JohnB Says:

Do we schlockers know how to hit a target, or do you two schlockmeisters know how to SET a target? *grin* I would suggest the latter….

And – I rather doubt I’ll be able to make it. Currently in oh-bleep work territory, unfortunately, and won’t be out of the weeds until well after the party. Darnit.

Maybe next time. The one I made was great fun, however.

  5. fatum Says:

swj719, I would love to attend the shipping party (nothing beats seeing the desperate face of a UPS person when you have a few crates to ship) but unfortunately Utah is just a little too far for me (6980 km or 4337 miles).

  6. Ryan Dobie Says:

I’m petitioning to have Utah moved closer to Alberta so that I can make the party. Although, in a few months, I may be petitioning to move Alberta closer to Utah (once the weather stops being so nice here :P).

  7. Sam Says:

    Petitioning what? A battleplate?

  8. WEKM Says:

Let us just hope that the books arrival does not again coincide with the arrival of massive amounts of snow. Wet squishy snow that makes everything a mess. Soft fluffy snow would be good, no snow would be even better, but PLEASE no wet snow.

This time around I should have a helping hand so that everything can get moved to the storage unit in one shot, rather than multiple trips.
Baring that, I am still working on my trebuchet. With luck, that will be ready and we can just fling them. I’m not sure how the two or three houses will react to getting bombarded with a pallet of books as we get the ranging right, but you can’t make a sweater without launching a few sheep into very low earth orbit.

  9. Howard Tayler Says:

@WEKM: The week of September 22nd is our target for taking delivery of five tons of dead tree. We’ll probably want to upgrade the storage unit to a wider one, and then shift all the existing stock to make room for the new stuff.

  10. hswoolve Says:

Good to know you’re planning ahead.

    Did madmike request #666 again?

  11. ama-gi Says:

Nooooooooo! I really picked the wrong week to go on vacation. I guess I’ll have to settle for a regular edition of this book.

  12. Jetstream Says:

Just remember to pace yourself this time, dude. I’m sure we’ll all survive if it takes a little longer to get the books. No need to hurt yourself :)

  13. WEKM Says:

Sweet! If it snows that week, not only will I be cursing the gods out, but the shop propane flame thrower will be fixed and I can take care of the snow myself.

Remind me to grab the shrink-wrap to wrap the boxes for extra stability, as well as for those that have been in there for a while and may be compromised structurally. Ya got ta love that stuff. I may even bring a roll or two of Gorilla Tape (http://www.gorillaglue.com/tapes.aspx) just because. Ther’s nothing I can’t fix with duct-tape, and Gorilla is the best in the WORLD!

Awww, DANGET! Payday won’t be until Friday of that week. I guess I will have to wait on the 4 book set until the weekend.
You are ok with the idea, aren’t you? I mean, selling more books is always better right?

Actually, thinking about it, I can wait to get art done after your hand heals up a bit. I guess that is one of the few good things about living down here, I can ambush you at the ‘Keep just about anytime.

    I’m rambling now, aren’t I…

  14. dafydd Says:

    *sigh* and “Excrement!”

Serves me right for having limited internet-ability all last week…

  15. WEKM Says:

    FLYING MONKEYS!!!

  16. Entrench Says:

i think i’m gonna get an awesome Christmas present from my brother…but i don’t know that (or i’m not supposed to) so i will continue hurrah-ing for my half-birthday present. These magnets are so cool, they’re the only things on my fridge.

  17. chris.wheeler Says:

I suspect that I selected a non-sketched edition in the store. I didn’t get to select what image amidst paypal having hysterics again. Email sent in the faint hope it can be changed..

  18. dwilkin Says:

I’m just glad I got the chance at a picture of Elf, with her crewcut! Hot – totally, totally hot! ;)

  19. richv Says:

    Howard:

Don’t forget to swing by WalMart for a Hot Wax treatment machine. They’re great when your hands start to cramp from too much drawing. A pallet of Naproxen (easier on the stomach than Ibuprofen from my experience) from Costco wouldn’t go amiss, either.

And, of course, don’t forget the tank truck full of Genuine Imitation Ovalkwik.

  20. WEKM Says:

Ovalkwik is for amateurs. Her in Utah, we have caffeinated gum, caffeinated mints and even CAFFEINATED WATER!
However, I do not suggest using them all at the same time or any drawing you make will be fuzzy like it’s out of focus from your hand vibrating.

  21. richv Says:

If my lottery ticket had won big, Howard would have gotten an order for 10,000 sketch editions, and a pallet-load of Percodan (you wouldn’t believe what you can find on Amazon). As it is, I could only afford one sketch edition (for the safe box) and one regular one to read.

Here in WA, the grocer’s freezer section has caffeinated donuts.

  22. richv Says:

    ama-gi:

Don’t despair; if you ask sweetly and offer a big enough bribe, I’m sure Sandra will take pity on you. I’ll bet she’d like a week in the Bahamas….

  23. Sam Says:

And in other news, I recently got an Eee, and just yesterday installed KDE on it. (From what I can tell, KDE seems to be the official Eee alternative to the over-simplistic interface it comes installed with. So no holy wars, please.) Why am I mentioning this? Because an Eee’s screen is 800×480, and I would like to use “Serial Peacemaker in Combat” and the Teraport Wars cover art as backgrounds.

I know I could crop them myself, but (a) first I would have to learn how, and (b) I can’t believe I’m the only Schlocker with an Eee.

  24. WEKM Says:

Caffeinated DONUTS?!?! When the heck did that happen?
Danget, you move out of WA and then the manage to bring out something like that.
You’re just trying to lure me back aren’t you?
Well it’s not gonna happen I tell you! You’ll never drag me back!
    Caffeinated donuts… (whimper)
