Calm Before The Storm

Posted September 14th, 2008 by Howard Tayler

(Apologies to folks suffering under the wrath of Hurricane Ike. I’m not talking about that kind of storm.)

Five thousand copies of Schlock Mercenary: The Teraport Wars are scheduled to arrive at my house sometime during the week of September 22nd. I feel strangely relaxed, even though I know that this coming week needs to be full of the sorts of activities (read: buffer-fu) that prepare me for three weeks of book signing and sketching.

I’m going to take this as a good sign.

speaking of the storm howard, nice work getting back up so quickly after getting knocked off line.
    “gunner”

YES! And the streak rolls on.

Hmmm, I guess that this would not be the week to try and get a commission done for the front of a Christmas card? Or next week either? Or probably the week after that.
Dang, why does inspiration always strike me at the worst possible time. If only I had been inspired last Sunday and could have given you money before the slogging started.
Hmmm, I wonder how well you respond to guilt; by any chance do you descend from Jewish stock?

So is this new volume going to be numbered, or is Tub of Happiness the only one that will sit on my shelf with the (1) on the spine? =P

I’d be happy to recommend, and even rent, a masseuse. Of course, it’d involve travel so I guess you’ll prolly have to [ahem] tough it out.

    D.

@DaGrinch: Teraport Wars has a #2 on the spine. Reprints (2nd printing) of UNM and TBB will be numbered #3 and #4 respectively.

Out From Under, which I’m working on now, will have a nice #5.

Quote from “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown”:
“If I start writing now when I’m not really rested it could upset my thinking which is not good at all”

    Are you signing all 5K?

  7. Howard Tayler Says:

I’m signing around 2,000, and sketching in 1,000. I’ve set aside almost three full weeks for the project.

It shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve done this before with more sketches in heavier books. I’ll be fine.
