Rango

I know, I know. I said I wasn't seeing movies for a while, and barely a week later you get a blog post from me in which I've caved in and seen a movie.

I'm glad I did.

Rango is my new favorite film of the year, which isn't saying much because it's only the third film I've seen. It's also got some of the most brilliant character design I've seen in ages, and my inner concept artist and alien-design geek figures that was worth the price of admission all by itself. If they release a book of concept art, I want to own it.

I'm not selling this to you very hard. Sorry. The film is awesome. I'm just tired.

I had a great time at the film. Dan Wells and I laughed aloud, though he was more enthusiastic about it than I was. My belly-laughs are rationed these days because they devolve into fits of wheezing that tend to frighten those around me. Still, I laughed aloud.

Regarding movies, Dan wants to go see Adjustment Bureau with me next week. I'm not sure whether I'll have time, but as an adaptation of a story by Phillip K. Dick it's definitely up my alley.

Regarding Dan, he turns 34 today. Follow him on Twitter and harass him. Then go out and buy his books. They are awesome, and he's got a new one coming out at the end of this month. I'll be reviewing that for you in time to help with your purchase decision (by which I mean "I will be telling you to buy and read this book.")
