Stuff to Click On
entry, September 14th, 2005

I'll cut right to the chase. Brad Guigar and the rest of my friends over at Blank Label Comics have put together a Webcomics Telethon to raise money for the Red Cross. There are new comics appearing every 20 minutes today, and the event has already raised over $15,000 in pledges.

Yes, I'm contributing a strip. I have no idea when it will air. You'll just have to keep clicking through the archives. I'll say this though -- you people put me up to it, you wacky, sicko Schlockers with your George Romero nightmares.

Speaking of nightmares, I'm suffering from insomnia lately. Not because of bad dreams, mind you. Just... because. It's probably a side-effect of my injury 8 weeks ago. My back and shoulder hurt a lot at night. I'm off the Lortab now, and I'm far enough off of it that I can look back and say "I'm no longer attracted to hydrocodone." I flirted briefly with diphenhydramine citrate (the active ingredient in Excedrin PM), but that has been too hard to wake up from lately. The net effect is that I spend the following day drinking caffeinated soda and being irritable, alert, and sleepy.

So I'm trying melatonin. I've talked to others who've taken the stuff, I've Googled it, and I'm giving it a shot. Hopefully I'll be able to reset my sleep cycle and stop "taking stuff" to help me along.

In related news, my shoulder really is doing a lot better. I've played a couple of rounds of Disc Golf in the last week, and while my game is horrible, I can play without any pain in my shoulder. Besides, my game has ALWAYS been horrible. At least this way I can claim to have an excuse.
