If you noticed something different about the strip that aired today, it's because it was colored by Jean Elmore, the mercenary colorist for Schlock Mercenary.

She's doing a number of things that will improve the overall Schlock experience. For starters, Sunday strips are going to be a little bit fancier. She's also doing CMYK work, which is one of the prerequisites for getting Schlock into a book, hopefully with fancy-schmancy colored strips on every page.

I don't have a schlockmail address for Jean yet, so you can't yet pester her to tell her how much you love what she's doing. I promise, though, that if you pester ME about it, I'll pass the word along.

In other news, my brother Randy is now a first-time Daddy, which makes me an uncle for what I believe to be the ninth time. My sister is also expecting within the month, which would grant me my tenth uncle-hood, and my OTHER brother is expecting (well, his wife is expecting) this summer, making me an elevensy-uncle. And I think one of my sister-in-laws on Sandra's side of the family is expecting, so at some point I'll be a dodeca-uncle.

Oh, and Sandra is due in about a month, so I'll be a daddy4.

They say the children are our future. I've seen my future, and it has food in its hair. Oh well. At least it HAS hair.
