Under New Management, SNARKED!

Posted August 1st, 2006 by Howard Tayler

Eric Burns of websnark.com just posted a review of Schlock Mercenary: Under New Management. He does a comparison between the production values of my book, and Josh Lesnick’s collection, and it comes off as insightful and accessible, yet erudite.

I love the way this man writes. He can write about stuff I have zero interest in and maintain my interest. When he discusses things for which I have deep and abiding passions (like my own work, for instance) I am transfixed, like a rabbit staring into the headlights of the Second Coming.

Anyway, go have a look. Maybe next year Josh and I will grant his wish. If somebody brings a video camera, I’ll do my happy dance.

So, if someone bought a book from you at this convention, and they paid you twice the value of the book, would you do a “We Got Paid Twice!” dance for us?

I mean, this could be an even better business model than the fifteen cent business card.

    I’m just sayin’…

I would dance, yes. I would dance for the camera, and the dance steps would include not only the moves I’ve learned from Tagon, but also squat-and-reach I’ve invented to symbolize being paid for crapping.

Alas, I do not think I’ve always wanted a monkey. Fortunate for me that I’m not planning on going to San Diego, hmmm?

Of course, if I were really cruel, I would go, and make sure to offer you my chili the night before. That way you could tell me if it burned like Vermilion’s Cooking.

And I can assure the lack of corn… well, except perhaps in the dance itself.

He does have the gift of spellbinding a reader. It’s a shame he’s not able to write “full-time;” if ever there was a talent which deserved it…

Anyway. I want to see the happy dance!
