LTUE XXVI This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
Posted February 13th, 2008 by Howard Tayler
For the next three days I’ll be at Life, The Universe, and Everything, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Symposium hosted at Brigham Young University. The Guests of Honor are Orson Scott Card, Gail Carson Levine, and Kevin Wasden. The Special Guests are Robert J. Defendi, Howard Tayler, and Brandon Sanderson.
Want merch? I will have copies of all three books ($15 to $25), the Rule 1 T-shirts in several sizes ($15-$20), 16×20 prints for Rule 37, Rule 12, Rule 36, and Rule 1 in sturdy plastic sleeves ($15 each), and a few original strips ($40-$100).
Here are the panels I’m participating in:
THURSDAY
1:00pm Satire in Science Fiction
4:00pm Astronomy behind Space TRavel
5:00pm Promoting Your Art on the Internet
6:00pm Webcomic Q&A
FRIDAY
10:00am Space Travel for Writers
12:00pm Computers of the Future
6:00pm Publishing Fiction on the Internet
7:00pm Publishing with a Small Press
SATURDAY
1:00pm Drawing Dinosaurs
If I’m not on a panel, I’ll probably be in the registration area drawing commissions, sketching in books, and generally committing commerce. I’m sharing table space with Bob Defendi and Brandon Sanderson, and on the occasions when all three of us are there I’m sure we’ll be having a grand time. Bob and Brandon are talented professionals, and we’re all good friends.
There are a few Orson Scott Card panels I’m interested in attending so I may vanish from time to time. Please don’t steal my stuff while Bob isn’t looking.

But… where are the other posters in the store? *pout*
I can’t come to LTUE, but I want the other posters too.

Now that I think of it, are you coming to ECCC this year? Maybe I’ll buy them there. Hmm, maybe another commission too.
February 14th, 2008 at 12:07 am
I don’t suppose you’ll be in SF for Comic-Con? That’d be great :)
February 14th, 2008 at 12:13 am
The other posters will appear in the store after the convention.
Sadly, I’m not attending ECCC this year. I’ve got another gig that conflicts.

I’m looking forward to seeing you there, if Maddie get to be too much of a bother when we get there, you can fake having to run off to a panel.
Of course if she gets too bad I may leave here with you and fake having to run to a panel myself. ;>

Woot. More posters. :)

Wait, you have other posters available and they’re not in the online store? Why that’s abuse of your online fanboys! :-)
BTW, when are you doing to do one of Rule 35? “That which fails to kill you has made a grave tactical error.” That’s the one I really want!

I suppose it’s too much to hope that a man of your metal interests will make his way to GenCon this year.

You know what would make that picture of the dragon wearing the jet pack perfect? A straw/air-hose from the dragon’s mouth to the intake of the pack.

Howard, you will return to the top of my “Favorite People” list if you get me Mr Card’s autograph…
I absolutely loved his Ender books, and the Bean books were amazing as well…
February 14th, 2008 at 10:52 am
Can he still make top-spot if he just forges Scott’s autograph?
February 14th, 2008 at 12:12 pm
Well, it isn’t like I would be able to tell the difference…
But I would think Howard isn’t that sort of guy…
February 14th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Ah, well, guess I’ll just have to buy ‘em from the store like everyone else.
No Howard at ECCC, ah well now I know I don’t hafta go. No offense to everyone else, I just try to stay away to conserve money. I only went last time because of Blank Label coming.

OSC’s autograph is very artistic. I have several of them.
February 14th, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Now that’s just rubbing it in Mike. Very unkind…
February 14th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
I’ve got MadMike’s autograph. Does that count for anything?
Oh, I’ve also got a signed copy of Robert Jordan’s Lord of Chaos. And Howard’s, of course.
That being said, I’d love an OSC one.
No plans on coming back to A-Kon this year? Your panel was the best part of last years.
February 15th, 2008 at 3:26 am
Mike’s right, swj. Very artistic. I’ve got about a half dozen of them myself. ;-)
February 15th, 2008 at 4:27 am
What if I said I didn’t care about autographs?
Ok, I’m almost lying. I care about certain sigs, but sadly, I must confess that OSC is not one of them.
Great, now I’m going to get banned from the convention for sure.

Wulf is also mean, and WEKM is just plain dead to me now… :)

You know, I went on Fri. night and the only one I sought out was Howard. Much of that was due to the fact that I had to take my two youngest along with me and I dared not stay longer.
I would have sought out an autograph for you, but my kids were on the verge of destroying the place after 30 min.
Don’t worry, I’m sure Howard got one for you.
February 17th, 2008 at 11:38 am
Scott: we got you a little something, yes.
February 17th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
…
Howard, would it be awkward if I told you that I loved you?
February 17th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
See, that’s why we need different verbs for different kinds of love. Stupid English language.
February 17th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
“Not in the way of the greeks, but in the way a Gorilla might love a kitty…”
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Howard,
The other “rule posters” you mentioned above, besides 37, are still not available in the SchlockStore. Any idea when they might become available?
