Sold out Minis and Archive Trouble

Posted October 28th, 2009 by Sandra Tayler

The Schlock Miniatures are now sold out. Thanks to everyone who ordered. To those who did not yet get a chance to order, never fear. The re-order has been placed and more minis are on the way. The re-order is twice the size of the original order, so everyone who wants a mini will be able to have one. We’ll post as soon as minis are available again.

In other news, Yes we know that the archive calendar has gone screwy. There are Schlock archive pages that are not being built correctly and thus preventing people from reading. We’re working on the problem, mostly by scrambling to finish up the new architecture that won’t have either that issue or the “sometimes the blog doesn’t load correctly” issue. Until we get it all fixed, I direct your attention to the RSS button over to the left of this blog. It is orange and located right under the “contact” link. If you click that button, you’ll be taken to the FeedBurner page for Schlock Mercenary where you can find all of the recent Schlock strips. You can also subscribe to the feed and have it sent to you without interruption. Thanks to everyone for your patience while we work to sort it out.

regarding reading the RSS feedpage… on my screen the last panel of the comics is cropped, so I am missing the ‘punchline’ for yesterday’s comic. I SUPPOSE I can wait until you fix the archive…. or subscribe to the feed (never have for anything else, though)…

Right-click and select “open image in new tab,” or whatever similar option is available in your browser. The whole image is there — it’s just Feedburner’s table cropping it.

  3. ollie Says:

ok! that worked… all caught up.

I decided that it was too much bother to register at a forum that I’ll never come back to just to make one speculation about the plot, so here it is:

Anytime I hear “hippie” and “plowshares” I think “swords to plowshares.”

  5. Veho Says:

Would that mean that before the “Plowshare project,” Credomar was some sort of weapon?

Danget, “Sold Out” two days before I have money.
I do have to ask though, will Drew take $20 in cash with the option to pick it up at the ‘Keep?
Not that I don’t trust the government to ship things, I just don’t want to pay them to ship things I hold personally valuable.

Ok, I admit, I’m just cheap, (and broke) and don’t want to pay shipping. And, I stop by Dragon’s Keep fairly often. I figure it would work out for all of us.

Heh, “figure”, I made a punny.

I’ll stop now, before my forum privileges are revoked.

  7. CrazyDreamer Says:

@Veho: Yes, but not to worry; it’s not like it can be used as a weapon with all those people inside of it. . . .

Yay! My contribution to the sold-out-ness of the Schlock figures arrived in the mail today! I cannot wait to get them painted up!

If the weather will cooperate and let me get them primed outside!

I’m delighted that the minis have sold so well, and I also will have to get one next time they’re available. However, after hearing about the expanded reorder I would like to share a cautionary tale with you all in the hopes that youll learn from anothers error instead of becoming object lessons for another.
During the early days of Magic: the Gathering a gaming company named Chaosium decided to diversify and grab a hunk of an emerging market. Chaosium released Mythos CCG, which was initially well received and rapidly sold out the first printing. Sensing a mother lode waiting to be tapped they ordered a double sized second printing along with expansions. Then the CCG market collapsed and Chaosium was left with hundreds of pallets of unsalable merchandise. After stuggling for nearly a decade under the debts from this venture they are finally growing again, but every fan of Call of Cthulhu and their other products wishes they hadnt had such a fall to climb back from.

In short, although I dont want to tell anyone how to run their business, I hope you dont overstep the market.

Garden Ninja does their math carefully. They won’t be in trouble even if the demand for Schlock minis slows to a trickle.

I love the table flag in the last panel for Friday. That’s subtly brilliant.

  12. jnaujok Says:

Amazingly, happily, my miniature Schlock has already arrived (yesterday’s mail) and he spent the evening perched happily on my laptop….

  13. MartianBanshee Says:

I received my Schlock mini yesterday – my wife looked at it for about a nanosecond, exlcaimed, “IT MUST BE MINE!!!”, and promptly confiscated it. Now I have to buy one for myself (again).

  14. Howard Tayler Says:

    Well, @MartianBanshee, they’re back in stock…
