Archive Trouble Redux
Posted November 2nd, 2009 by Sandra TaylerWe appear to be having archive trouble again. This is why we are anxious to get moved over to our new server and site architecture. For now you can check out the RSS feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/SchlockRSS) The right sides of the images are truncated, but you can see them by right clicking and selecting View Image. Sorry for the clunky solution, but at least it lets you read the comic while we’re scrambling to get the archive fixed.

Whether the images are truncated or not depends on your feed reader. For example, they show up just fine in Safari.

I actually prefer reading it on the website, so I’m waiting until everything’s fixed. I’ve given up Schlock for Lent for the past several years (among other things, of course!), so a week or two isn’t much of a problem.

On that note, is there an eta on the move to the new architecture?

Comment on today’s strip: While indeed, it might be smarter to build the brain inside the tank shell, practical application of high density plasma demonstrates that the lota’s head survived the encounter… not so dumb after all? what good is a protective layer of armour (ok, that MIGHT have been exposed to detonating warheads that weakened the shell), that doesn’t actually provide any protection? might as well use the bony protrusion after all.
no actual gripe here, just commentary.

of course, putting my ‘CPU’ as close as possible to the major sensory input and communication output port makes a lot of sense! Shortens the nerves, and gives you one important thing to protect instead of a brain and a seperate or dispersed sensory cluster. Once you are able to rely on ‘reactivating’ your CPU in a repaired structure, it makes sense to isolate and protect your brain, and be willing to sacrifice your eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and tactile sense in extreame need.
Which, unless I miss my guess, is what LOTA has done.

does that make as much sense here as it did in my head??

In Firefox, if you switch from “Basic Page Style” to “No Style” you can read the full comic. It’s ugly, but functional :)

No immediate ETA on the move. The new design is well on the way to completion, the new server is ready to go, but there are a couple more steps to go.
