This year is going to bring big changes to Schlock Mercenary, but I need some help to make it happen. First and foremost, within about a month I need to hire a colorist.

If you've got Photoshop experience, and think you can color Schlock Mercenary at least as well as I do, click here for more information. This is a paid position, offering both a starting rate of $100 per month (or about $2 per row colored) as well as a percentage on certain colored merchandise.

Why am I doing this? Well, there are a couple of reasons. First off, I got a promotion at Novell, and it's one that provides me with a bit more disposable income (read that "I can afford to pay a colorist") and with proportionally less disposable time (read that "I can no longer afford to do the coloring myself").

Couple that with the fact that some of the plans I have require lots of digital pre-press time, and you'll see that unless I want to kill the strip or let it fade into obscurity, I have to get me some help.

Some of you might be wanting to help by sending me money, or clicking on ads, or signing up for Keenspot Premium. Frankly, clicking on ads is a waste of time. Don't bother. If you want a low-cost way to help me out, share Schlock Mercenary with your friends. It costs you nothing, except maybe a few of your less-than-easily-amused friends.

Okay, with the business stuff out of the way, I'd like to wish you all a slightly-belated Happy New Year. 2003 is going to be exciting. It's going to be fun. It's going to be so much fun, in fact, that it'll take us a WHOLE YEAR just to have all the fun that can be had in 2003. Just you wait and see.
