Nifty, no? They make me about four inches taller than my bare feet do, which means I'm within spitting distance of six feet tall. Of course, this depends on which direction you spit, and how proficient you are at it. I can actually be on hands and knees and still be within spitting distance of six feet, so perhaps the point would be better communicated with an actual example.

I bought the shoes, and then wore them to the technical conference. Several people, at different times, while talking to me actually paused and said "You're taller than I remember you being."

At the closing panel one of the questions was "So how tall is Howard WITHOUT the new shoes."

Suffice it to say, they made an impression. I think the thing that I liked best was being able to see further when walking through a pressing crowd. Not MUCH further, mind you, but it still makes a difference.

In other news, the flight home was nightmarishly long. Fortunately, I was able to beg a prescription sleeping pill off of a travelling companion, and I caught ten hours worth of zzzs over the Atlantic (or 'the pond' as international travellers like myself are wont to call it).

As a slightly related note, the buffer stands at 14. I've gotten no cartooning done this weekend, save some single-panel stuff for Keenspot PREMIUM I did in the air over Georgia. Send me happy thoughts, prayers, or encouraging email... I really need to get my game on, and I'm still exhausted from the trip.
