Better Late Than Never
entry,

Well, it looks like Schlock Mercenary will hit its third anniversary on the Web with an unblemished update record. And in case you're worried, the buffer stands at 14 right now, with me about to take off on another business trip. You SHOULD be worried. Have I ever let you down? No. Is there a first time for everything? Yes. Am I going to use that as an excuse? No.

The "better late than never" subject actually pertains to a column I wrote, which was published a week ago. You should go read it now. I make some defensibly outrageous claims, which I will stand by until the day I, or someone else, dies.

Speaking of death, I bought what I think is a goth/punk album this week. It's Fallen, by Evanescence. The whole thing seems to be in a minor key, and the ghastly-pale female vocalist sounds either sad or angry in every tune. Unfortunately, I like the album a lot, and have the distinct impression that the vocalist is head-and-shoulders above 99% of the pop vocalists alive. This in turn leads me to believe that it's not as goth as I thought it was. Either that, or goth is growing up. I mean, I'm a 35-year-old, middle-class white guy. I can't like goth, can I?

(I've drawn comics to this album, and I've taken naps to it... what incredible versatility!)

And now, I've got a very busy weekend to finish up.
