The names roughly translate into "acid" and "base," but with an emotional context more along the lines of "anvil" and "hammer."

SORLIE: So an anvil made of acid is coming toward us at 120 kilometers per hour.

Human researcher: I can see why the Librarian likes you.

SORLIE: I can see why Chinook wanted to give us an armored umbrella.
