Book 14: Broken Wind — Part III: Exhalation and Exit Strategies

Transcript

NARRATOR: Fifteen minutes later...

ENNESBY: One Oafan warship: fantastically durable hull, power output comparable to a UNS carrier, and she's been stasis-gelled so she'll be ready to fly without a major refit.

When the shooting starts, well, wow!  She's got eight

TAGON: *interrupting* Stop.  I get it.  Let's cut to the chase:

Who will be flying her?

ENNESBY: This is top-of-the-line Oafan military technology.  It would take us years to rip and replace the integrated A.I. matrix.  Broken Wind is willing to save us all that time and provide us with an A.I. herself.

TAGON: She's broken.  It's right in her name.  Why should I trust her to pick an A.I. for us?

ENNESBY: I didn't say "pick."  She's not "picking" so much as "being" it.  You know, herself.
