Book 19: A Function of Firepower — Part II

Transcript

NARRATOR: Broken Wind, forward mess, staging area...

LIZ: Nick, it's your turn out front.

LIZ: And stay out front. I'll take care of prep.

NICK: Did I do something wrong?

LIZ: No, but I might.

NICK: Ohhh. That thing you do, dropping knowledge-nuggets on people when you give them food?

LIZ: Yeah, that thing. I gotta keep these nuggets on my plate.

NICK: Which nuggets?

LIZ: Our new contract is basically “stop history from repeating itself.”

LIZ: The senior officers know some history, but none of them know enough about the study of history to grasp the problem.

NICK: Liz, you studied history.

LIZ: And that's the problem. I studied just enough to know the conversation out there is a million light years and five billion year-years above my pay grade.

NICK: You don't want to diss Captain Murtaugh where she can hear you.

LIZ: Or Commodore Tagon.

NICK: We really gotta work on your S.A.

LIZ: What essay?

MURTAUGH: “S.A.”

MURTAUGH: Situation awareness.

CDRE. TAGON: It's a skill you'll need if we're going to tackle your little pay-grade problem.
