Congratulations go out to Adrian, winner of the "Grim Schlock" auction. And I suppose that a very special THANK YOU goes out to Adrian and others, who helped me spring for a set of color markers that I'm next to clueless about how to use.

Seriously. I've seen that it's POSSIBLE to blend the colors, and that IN THEORY fantastic works of art can be created with them, but the best I've been able to come up with so far still looks like the same old schlock I usually create... only without the pure, smooth, color offered in the digital domain. I guess this means I need to practice more.

I suppose that's fair. I've only been working on 'drawing' seriously since March of 2000. These things take time. Rome wasn't built in a day. For that matter, Van Gogh didn't cut off his ear and mail it in a day, either (well, maybe he did, but he practiced a lot with paintbrushes and stuff before he got around to the serious 'artiste' stuff with the knives and the packing tape. I've got a long way to go yet.)

By request, here's a scan of one of my first marker pictures (the VERY first was sent out as a scrap of stiffening paper to protect a valuable auction piece... heaven knows I don't want to have to look at it anymore.) It's "big Brad," and I figure it's not spoiling any plot lines now for you all to get to look at it. After all, today's strip features Brad in his brand-new-way-too-big body. I hope you like it. More importantly, I hope BRAD likes it, because he's stuck with it.

In other news, there is no other news. I'm far too harried to come up with something entertaining. Stare at the pretty picture for a moment, and leave me alone. I'm busy.
