I'm turning 45 this year. This month, even, if you'll allow for a day's worth of fudging for leap considerations. The 29th doesn't come along this year, but as of March 1st I'll be forty-five years old for all official purposes.
Folks sometimes ask what I want for my birthday. In the past I've put up Amazon wish-lists, but that seems kind of self-serving. In fact, it seems like the very definition of self-serving. This year I'm looking for more of a win-win scenario.
So here it is: For my birthday this year, buy YOURSELF something at Amazon.com. Anything! Just start your shopping trip with that link. This gets you something you were probably going to get anyway, and it cuts me in for between 6% and 8% of the purchase price at no additional cost to you.
It may not sound like much, but Amazon Affiliate revenue from my audience is actually a big contributor to the bottom line here in my home. The Tayler Corporation and Hypernode Media are a family business, and even just an extra couple hundred dollars here and there makes a larger difference than I might like to admit.
If business bottom-line considerations don't feel birthday-ish, don't worry. A very generous fan arranged for the delivery of the Reaper Bones package in March, so I'll have plenty of toys. Also I'm building myself something super-nice. Literally, building myself: I'm hitting the gym 5 days a week every day this month. I might not have a six-pack for my birthday, but I'm certainly getting a stack of SOMETHING inside this increasingly tight shirt.
Finally, this month I'll be doing a Kickstarter for a brand-new bit of Schlock Mercenary merchandise -- Tagon's Toughs Challenge Coins. They'll be $10 each, and if we over-fund, there will be more than one design. Watch this space or the Schlock Mercenary Facebook Group for details.
