Book 4: The Blackness Between — Part V: Backstabbing on the Fast Track
Note: As a U.N.S. Battleplate AI, Gus had a very complete library of human entertainment, and could instantly access any of it. Admiral Gracie, however, was unfamiliar with George Burns, Gracie Allen, and pretty much anything non-military that went on in the 20th century. His last thought was "that's an odd way for Gus to say goodbye."

Narrator: The last minutes aboard the U.N.S. Tunguska are frenetic.
UNS-Tunguska-Crew: Hypernodes are down!
Admiral Gracie: All hands to Terapods! All hands to Terapods!
Gus: I'm going to lose containment on the last two plants very shortly.
Admiral Gracie: Are the 'pods making it out, Gus?
Gus: Yes and no. Some made it.
Admiral: There's a spot of comfort then.
Gus: No more will make it.

Say goodnight, Gracie.

Narrator: The rest is just pretty lights. . .
