Book 13: Random Access Memorabilia — Part I: Read

Transcript

NARRATOR: The Gavcorps vessel Notteri Again, home to the Diversity Engineering Institute.

CIKITSAKA: Welcome, baseliners!

Yes, here at D.E.I. have a word for you, and we use it with no denigration whatsoever.

CIKITSAKA: You were told as a child that you were special, you were unique, and that nobody else but you could be you.

One frozen millennium later you accidentally created a world in which, for you at least, that was not true.

CIKITSAKA: You're not unique anymore.  Hundreds of millions of people can be you so convincingly that sometimes you lie awake and wonder if perhaps there really is a spiritual component to humanity, a soul, because it feels like the gate-cloning somehow stretched yours across nine hundred and fifty million reanimated corpsicles.

I know this because I used to be a baseliner.  I was you.

CIKITSAKA: Please hold your questions until the end of the presentation.  We already know what you're going to ask.

Illustrating why all of you are here to begin with...
