Book 4: The Blackness Between — Part IV: A Little First Contact

Transcript

Narrator: A Doctor/patient privileged discussion is currently in progress. Sensitive stuff. . .
Elf: Bunni, the U.N.S. Doc told me the overdose was a false alarm.
Bunni: . . . Only because he had no way of knowing that you and most of the rest of Tagon's human troops have been boosted illegally.
Elf: Yeah, Schlock said the Doc will keep quiet about that.
Narrator: You know, we really shouldn't be listening.
Bunni: That's good to hear, but that's not the point.
Elf: Fine. Make your point already.
Bunni: Elf, you're addicted to some pretty powerful stimulants.
Bunni: You've been resorting to drug abuse instead of coping with grief the way humans are supposed to. Your metabolism has protected you from physical damage, but you're crippling yourself emotionally.
Elf: I'm not addicted.
Bunni: Don't you dare try and tell me you can quit anytime you want.
Elf: And I'm not crippled.
Schlock: Not with those boots, you're not.
Schlock: Did I come at a bad time?
TRBoE:
Elf: See? Not crippled. I can do "angry."
Bunni: With much kicking.
