Book 5: The Scrapyard of Insufferable Arrogance — Part III: Handle With Care

Transcript

Narrator: Captain Tagon's company of mercenaries finishes their plundering of the Kreely slave camp. The haul is a good one.
Tagon: Where'd Pronto get off to? I told him that vehicle won't fit in the hold.
Elf: Last I saw he was carrying an armful of those emergency tie-downs.
TRBoE:
Tagon: This is the sort of thing you're supposed to ask about, soldier.
Pronto: I figured I'd do better if I begged your forgiveness later, sir.
Schlock: Elf, do we have any special rules on plunder?
Elf: No, but the Captain is talking about making a "not if we have to tie it to the roof" rule. Why do you ask?
Schlock: Well, suppose somebody found something really valuable, and they were the only ones who could really get at it. Like 'cause o' special skills or something.
Elf: If it's plundered during company operations, it belongs to the company, special skills or no.
Elf: If the company hadn't provided support, nobody would have had a shot at the plunder at all.
Elf: Now, you wanna tell me what's so valuable that you found that nobody noticed?
Schlock: Legs managed to drain the slavers' accounts.
Schlock: She wants to do the right thing, but she also wants to be really rich.
Elf: And to think, I got into this business so I wouldn't have to worry about morality.
