Book 2: The Teraport Wars — Post Post-Dated Check Loan

Transcript

XINCHUB: Your new commanding officer is on her way up right now.

XINCHUB: Lest you forget: You all work for me, or you never work again. Hate me all you want, you're still mine.

TAGON: And after we complete this mission?

XINCHUB: I'll put everything back the way it was, and you'll be free to go your merry way.

XINCHUB: Which means merrily wreaking violent mayhem for money other than mine, I expect.

JEVEE CEETA: Colonel Jevee Ceeta, reporting for duty as ordered, General Lardchins.

XINCHUB: That's General Xinchub, Colonel.

JEVEE CEETA: I'm sorry. I must be bucking for a dishonorable discharge on the grounds that you've got more pork on you than the south end of a north-bound congress.

JEVEE CEETA: And you I can't tell you how happy I am to be commanding your lousy band of misfits.

TAGON: Hey, enemy of my enemy, right?

JEVEE CEETA: '…is my enemy's enemy. No more, no less.' Maxim 29.

TAGON: You've read "The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries? [sic]

JEVEE CEETA: Maxim One: Pillage, then burn.

TAGON: Maxim 13: Do unto others.

JEVEE CEETA: Maxim 27: Don't be afraid to be the first to resort to violence.

TAGON: General, I think this political officer will work out just fine.

XINCHUB: Maxim 9: "Never turn your back on an enemy."

XINCHUB: I'm sorry. Did I spoil your little truce by quoting from the same tiny book of malevolent canon?

XINCHUB: Maxim 30: "A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go."
