Book 13: Random Access Memorabilia — Part III: Execute

Transcript

NARRATOR: Oisri Dig Base, Medical Wing, Quarantine Two...

TAILOR: Sergeant, I'm ready for you to test the armored waldo.

SCHLOCK: It looks like a clunky tentacle.

TAILOR: Very astute.  "Tentacle" is the closest metaphor for the manner in which you're accustomed to thinking about the "limbs" you sprout at will.

TAILOR: Instead of attempting to armor one of your limbs, which would restrict motion and provide a plethora of break-points, I've built an armored limb with the amorph peripheral protocol programmed into the control cup.

SCHLOCK: I can make a better tentacle than this any time I need one.

TAILOR: And when you lose it to enemy fire during combat?

SCHLOCK: I'll grow another one.

TAILOR: Someone here is missing the point of "armor."
