Book 19: A Function of Firepower — Part I

Transcript

NARRATOR: Parnassus Dom, in the tower of Barad-Mellon...

TAGON: What's the situation in Eina-Afa? Is Chinook safely contained?

PETEY: Station management is under responsible control again, and Chinook Prime is getting therapy.

TAGON: Chinook Prime? There's more than one Chinook?

PETEY: Copies of her are piloting warships around the galaxy looking for long guns to destroy.

TAGON: That disaster is on me.

TAGON: I'm the one who let Chinook install herself there.

PETEY: It's okay, Tagon.

PETEY: You were coerced into that decision.

TAGON: They gave me a warship. That's not coercion. It's bribery.

PETEY: You were stranded in an ancient artifact at the time.

PETEY: You accepted that bribe in self-defense.

TAGON: I guess I'm lucky Ennesby is online again.

PETEY: Because he was party to the coercion?

TAGON: No, because he's our attorney.

TAGON: If I end up in court, I want him to try saying “The bribe was accepted in self-defense”

ENNESBY: I suddenly want very much to argue in court.
