Book 16: Big, Dumb Objects — Part III


Human researcher: The Oafan hives named the storms Akkrok and Kutsko.

The names roughly translate into "acid" and "base," but with an emotional context more along the lines of "anvil" and "hammer."

SORLIE: So an anvil made of acid is coming toward us at 120 kilometers per hour.

Human researcher: I can see why the Librarian likes you.

SORLIE: I can see why Chinook wanted to give us an armored umbrella.
