Book 19: A Function of Firepower — Prologue(s)

Note: Four. Four chapters in one prologue. Not four prologues. And even if it is four prologues, that's better than a flashback.

Transcript

NARRATOR: The prologue finally wraps up: The Eina-Afa infosphere, ten million years ago...

(unknown): Yaeyoefui, we need your help.

(unknown): We think Eina-Mnelalae has begun secretly forcing people to abandon foil and flesh, and cross over to us.

(unknown): She means to exterminate those who breathe.

(unknown 2): If we crossload someone into her mindframe, someone responsible, they can stop her, and take control of Eina-Afa.

YAEYOEFUI: That's a pretty big job.

(unknown 2): Yaeyo, friend... you served above as a keeper of the dead.  We need you now to keep the living.

YAEYOEFUI: When I said "big" I meant "long."  Millions of years long.

(unknown): Retirement is overrated.

NARRATOR: One mindframe crossload later...

YAEYOEFUI: I've taken the station form Eina-Mnelalae, but there's a problem.

YAEYOEFUI: She had very compelling reasons to kill and upload those who remain.

YAEYOEFUI: And the problem?  She wasn't doing it quickly enough...
