Book 2: The Teraport Wars — Post Post-Dated Check Loan
While it's possible that ordinary Doppler radar could be jammed with plain old soup, other, more sophisticated (and more energetic) bands of radar can only be jammed with something significantly less transparent. Not only must we assume that there are iron supplements in the soup, but also that the elephants are showering Tug Shandal with very large quantities of it. While we're at it, we ought to imagine the presence of chunks, gobbets, and other difficult-to-identify meatishly heavy bits, and perhaps some spoons.

Transcript

Jevee Ceeta: There's one problem with this scenario of yours, Doyt. Tug is still inside holding your friends hostage.
DoytHaban: Hmmm... An armored space-dwarf and his sentient axe-cannon facing down a platoon of armored infantry.
Tug Shandal: Och! They're jamming me radar with showers of soup!
DoytHaban: And elephants, too. Did I forget to mention the elephants?
Narrator: We are forced to assume that there are iron supplements in that soup.
